Scientific Synergy for Global Food Security

We are taking another significant step in deepening relations between Ukraine and Ghana.

Following strategic agreements between Ukraine's Ministry of Economy and Ghana's Ministry of Food and Agriculture, a Memorandum of Cooperation has been officially signed. The partnership brings together a leading scientific institution — the Plant Breeding and Genetics Institute – National Center for Seed and Cultivar Investigation (NAAS) — and the RIDNE Consortium.

Why This Matters

The goal of the partnership is to form a joint team of scientists and launch a Joint Center for Climate-Resilient Agricultural Production.

The main focus will be on:

• Breeding new seed varieties of melon, oilseed, grain, and legume crops adapted to the challenging climate conditions of the African continent, enabling local communities to achieve self-sufficiency.
• Scientific support and applied research, conducted both at Ukrainian institutes and directly in Africa, to strengthen the region's humanitarian resilience.
• Developing adaptive farming practices and establishing demonstration plots for knowledge exchange and training local farmers.
• Promoting Ukrainian seed on global markets as part of a broader humanitarian initiative that turns scientific ideas into a powerful tool for supporting international security.

A Real Tool for Overcoming Humanitarian Challenges

By combining Ukraine's scientific potential with the production capacity of the RIDNE Consortium, we are building an ecosystem capable of creating new models within international humanitarian programs.
